Death and life are actually two sides of the same coin; whenever we talk about death, we are also talking about life. The “how we want to die” represents the most important and costly conversation we in America are not having. There are 3 questions that each of us should be able to answer: What do we want? What are we worried about? Who will decide for me if I am not able?
What matters most is to talk with the people you love about decisions near the end of life, to come to terms with inevitable loss and thus to honor the cycle of life. By breaking the silence we can make decisions that are in keeping with our treasured values and beliefs.
This “Necessary Discussion” will help to gain a Jewish perspective on end of life issues. It also looks to help you begin the discussion with your family. RSVP that you will be joining Rabbi Musnitsky to Karen Anolick by Monday, March 4th.
